Putting the local into climate finance

At a COP22 event to discuss 'From NDCs to National Climate Investment Plans: domestic investment and climate finance tracking', IIED's Marek Soanes introduced research on the case for subnational climate finance:

  10. The liveliness of the event was illustrated by the fact the slides being presented seemed to take on a life of their own, skipping forward and backward beyond the control of the presenters
  11. Lots of fun (confusion) being had currently. Seems tech conflict w/ another room means presentation slides are moving of own accord! #COP22
  12. You could say it's a good argument for devolved control of slides to local presenters. More on #climatefinance parallels shortly... #COP22  https://twitter.com/IIED/status/797032071180992518
  13. With those problems resolved, IIED researcher Marek Soanes moved on to tackling the challenge of getting climate finance to the local level
  14. Even just implementing the LDCs' NDCs will require at least US$96 bn per year in international climate finance -->  http://www.iied.org/indcs-least-developed-countries-are-estimated-cost-us937-billion-year

  23. A lively question-and-answer session followed, which included the highlighting of IIED's Tracking Adaptation and Monitoring Development project
  24. Now: How do we move towards #climatefinance planning, in terms of integration. Not what needs to be done, but how to do it? #COP22
  25. @JaneWilkinsonn: It's pretty much impossible at the moment to track [#climatefinance) from the national to local level #COP22
  26. @JaneWilkinsonn: Without knowing this we can’t measure how it impacts on the ground. It's a big gap in our current knowledge #COP22  https://twitter.com/IIED/status/797039121390833665
