National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans 2.0 workshop (Namibia)
In July 2014, the latest National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans 2.0 (NBSAPs) workshop took place at the Midgard Estate in Namibia to consider what successful mainstreaming of biodiversity and development would look like.
- Looking forward to Namibia NBSAP 2.0 workshop coming soon. Project countries doing well with revisions. Latest here: http://www.iied.org/nbsaps-20-project-update …
- Our #NBSAP workshop will focus on what successful mainstreaming of biodiversity and development looks like. http://iied.org/nbsaps
- In Namibia working with govts of Seychelles, Botswana, Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa andUganda on biodiversity mainstreaming #NBSAP
- @Darwin_Defra @IIED Yes that's right - NBSAPs 2.0 mainstreaming biodiversity and development project. Workshop first day going well.
- @RosGoodrich @IIED True. They want it monetized and commodified (as if it could actually be).
- @JoshStack @IIED We are making distinction b/w biodiversity valuation as planning tool vs market tool + need to connect in orderto influence
- Valuing #biodiversity. Financial valuation just one way; must look at other values and include cost of practical impacts too #NBSAPs
- Valuing #biodiversity - who benefits and who bears cost of decisions? Value alternative uses for resource to inform better decisions #NBSAP
- 85%of CBD parties consider #biodiversity in nat priorities or devpt plans but often incidental + no budget - implementation issue again
- One answer to accessible #biodiversity mainstreaming guidance is the http://nbsapforum.net . Lots of info + languages. Take a look. #NBSAP
- Mainstreaming #biodiversity could use some video livestreaming. We would love to see #NBSAP workshop @IUCN_CEC @RosGoodrich @dilysroe
- SLIDESHARE: That might be all from the #NBSAP workshop in Namibia, but there are FOUR related presentations here --> http://www.slideshare.net/IIEDslides/tag/nbsap …
- The NBSAPS presentations mentioned in the above tweet were not from this Namibia workshop, but from earlier in the process.
